In 2006, High Country Gardens opened their first retail garden center at the Jackalope store located at 6400 San Mateo NE in Albuquerque. The 6500 square foot garden center carries the best of High Country Garden xeriscape perennials, annuals, trees and shrubs.

Our HCG Store at San Mateo will have its exclusive line of soil and garden products and the distinguished Smith & Hawken outdoor living line. Our friendly, knowledgeable staff of experts are always here to answer your questions and assist you with your gardening needs. Map
The High Country Gardens store in Bernalillo is conveniently located off Interstate 25 on Highway 550 at Jackalope. The new store location features a greenhouse, Garden Center and nursery bursting with waterwise plants including xeriscape perennials, trees, shrubs, and vines all regionally adapted for the high desert climate. Choose from over 500 varieties of plants, most of which are grown locally in our Bernalillo growing facility and delivered fresh daily. The Bernalillo store also offers Landscape Consultation services which are sure to be helpful with the
growing new west mesa communities.

HIGH COUNTRY GARDENS® stores

25 years ago, we opened our first nursery and garden center at Santa Fe Greenhouses. In 1993, we began shipping plants nationally through our High Country Gardens mail order division, and in 2000 began our online catalog which specializes in xeriscape (waterwise) perennials. In 2006, we opened our first High Country Gardens store in Albuquerque located at San Mateo/I-25; and in 2008 opened another store at the Bernalillo Jackalope location. Many of our popular award-winning plants were introduced by President and Chief Horticulturist, David Salman, a plant pioneer and nationally recognized speaker and writer on the topic of Xeriscaping.
